His Holiness, Pope Eugenius III, has issued the call to arms. The Holy City of Jerusalem and its Sacred Shrines must be freed from the Infidels.
A Pilgrimage Tourney shall decide who among us shall lead the Pilgrims and Warrior Monks to liberate the Sacred Sites from the Paynim.
The Pilgrimage journey will include six Stations on the Road to Jerusalem:
Reims, Buda-Pesht, Beograde, Byzantium, Antioch, and Jerusalem.
The Bozkashi Team with the highest goal score AND at least one completed Pilgrimage Passport among the Team members, who does NOT have to be a fighter, will be chosen to lead the Pilgrimage to Jerusalem.
The Pilgrim who accrues the most Scallop Shells will earn a Devotional Journal, and a pouch of Coin.
The first Pilgrimage Station, Reims, will be available for Pilgrims to complete at several Events before November, as well as at the Pilgrimage Tourney Event.
In order to gain understanding of Saracen foe and how they fight, the Tourney will use their extreme "sport" of Bozkashi (Dog Ball) as a basis.
Those who wish to Captain a Team of fighters will choose one of the Monastic Military Orders to Champion. The Captains, who do NOT have to be fighters, will choose fighters for their Team (up to 5 fighters on the field at a time per team), which may include themselves, to bear the Order's Armband Tokens. Pilgrims may be chosen as non-fighting team members.
The scoring of goals will accrue to individual fighters and be tallied under their Team's Order.
The highest scoring individual fighter will garner a Short Sword and a pouch of Gold Coin.
The highest scoring Team overall will be bestowed a Papal Authority Scroll as Pilgrimage General.
And receive various accoutrement, and a Treasure Chest of Gold Coin and Baubles.
